Puff Puff Pass

Willfully, perhaps desperately, clinging to our childhood memories, it is hard for some to accept so many of the well-known fairy tales, children’s stories, and folk songs, are actually deep-held political statements or prurient adult reading cloaked in a red riding cape of innocence. It has always been the way I think.

Sixties folk songs were no different and, although this Peter, Paul, and Mary folk ballad may appear to be a fun ditty, it is actually an ode to the weed. How appropriate, then, to reprise it in a time when 18 states in the U.S. have approved medical use of marijuana and two more recreational use. Here’s to 32 and 48 more!
