Person of Interest Invictis Maneo

In a recent episode of the popular television series, Person of Interest, two of the characters utter Latin phrases. Authors and script writers like to have their little jokes and show themselves to be smarter than the average bear. They sometimes use this kind of thing to slip in a coded homage, or a pet peeve, or perhaps a personal favorite. Not many people today know Latin. Many don’t recognize it at all, just glossing over such phrases when they occur in books, television, or film. And so the writers have their laugh.

Bored? Really?

Are You Bored? Really?

Bored? Really? Kids often say to their parents, “Mom, Dad, I’m bored. I have nothing to do!” Adults often say, or think, the same thing. If you take a moment to read below you should realize that boredom is the biggest, lamest, excuse ever!

Brendon Burchard – 5 Steps for Getting Ahead

What Everyone Should Know About Their Own Journey

Brendon Burchard has been a moving force in my life, both in my personal development and in my business efforts. I’ve never met him face to face but I feel like I know him personally. I “met” him accidentally about four years ago when I came across his introductory video series for Total Product Blueprint. It served as a catalyst to re-open my eyes and to re-focus my own journey of success. Brendon put a road map in my hands, which I chose to follow.

Is facebook the new World Wide Web?

Lora sometimes says I’m a dinosaur and, in the sense that I’ve been around a long time, it’s true. Hopefully, though, I have effectively survived the metaphorical meteor strikes and climate changes along my path of success, and have learned and gained a little expertise and, perhaps, wisdom along the way. Having been around a long time, I saw and participated in the Internet before it was public. I watched it’s growth when people ran CAT-5 cable along gutters to get an Internet connection to their home. I participated in some pretty crazy things to get local connectivity myself. Today I am wondering, “Is facebook the new World Wide Web”

Quick. Another facebook…

I was invited to yet another social media site yesterday. There was nothing outstanding about it. It was just another place to sign up, interact with people, post cute sayings, and converse about certain topics. And they made it easy for you. One-click registration with a facebook interface. If you give them permission to post on your wall and hit up all your friends to join too.

Facebook Likes

I regularly get asked to like people’s facebook pages. It happens as often as several times a day. Sometimes I look at the page and wonder why I should like it at all. Especially when it has nothing on it but a name. The requester would be far better off, and more likely to get my like, if they waited until they had developed the page a little. Then they could ask. It does seem that facebook likes aren’t really worth anything of true value to the facebook member anymore. Watch this video.

No One Knows…

My “normal” waking day runs from about noon to about 4 a.m. and then I sleep from about 4 a.m. until noon. It’s not that I’m lazy. I get a good day’s work in. I just do it on my own time. I generally don’t do mornings. Something about the early worm getting taken by the bird, I think. So why am I up writing this at nearly 5 in the morning as I am just completing the first hour of a very much less than “normal” day?

The Important Things In Life…

What Are The Important Things That Really Matter?

A philosophy professor stood before his class with some items on the table in front of him. He had previously written the words, “The Important Things In Life” on the chalk board behind him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks, odd shapes; each about 2 inches in diameter.

Why January One?

So why exactly do we celebrate new years day, the beginning of our new annual calendar, on January 1? Is there some line in space we cross as we orbit the sun? Is there some spectacular alignment of stars and planets that happens on this day? Is there any technical reason at all for this day to be the first day of the new year?

The American Resolution

The new year is coming up fast and may people will be making resolutions, those promises we make to ourselves knowing we are unlikely to keep them. A lot of those promises will have to do with weight loss, especially after the excessive eating we have all done over the holiday season. Some will turn to fad diets, some will choose starvation. Some will try to follow some sort of healthy eating plan. It is, however, hard to pick the right foods and, even if you do, it is often difficult to find, or afford, them. The corporate food industry has taken over the marketplace and has built an industry on sugar and high fructose corn syrup based on government sanctioned lies.
